Aviation Law

Aviation is not a job. Nor is it simply a hobby . . . . It is something you love to be around, and are proud to be part of. Whether your connection to aviation is your livelihood, or it is simply for the challenge and enjoyment of flying, you were called to be part of this group. When you need an attorney to represent you in an aviation related matter, you need someone who understands what it means to be part of the aviation family, who has years of experience and shares that calling. We have that expertise and share that calling.

The firm has had the privilege of representing corporations and individuals in the wide range of issues that can arise in modern day aviation. Has your insured been involved in a serious accident involving death or bodily injury? Our clients have included the estate of a deceased pilot, a designated pilot examiner as well as a commercial aircraft manufacturer in litigation covering the gamut from product liability, pilot negligence, radar coverage and negligent supervision. Is the Federal Aviation Administration attempting to suspend your license to fly, instruct or perform maintenance on an aircraft, or attempting to levy a fine against you? We have twenty years experience in representing pilots and companies in administrative actions involving the FAA and the NTSB. Are you looking to purchase an aircraft and need assistance with the contract? These are just some of the areas of our experience.

The partner in charge of our aviation practice is Tom Hayek. Tom has a commercial pilot’s license with instrument and multi-engine ratings. He has been a contributing author to the Midwest Aviation Journal and has been a guest speaker at the Midwest Aviation Conference and Trade Show. In addition, Tom has served as an engineering officer in the Missouri Air National Guard for 23 years, and in doing so has consulted on or oversaw major airfield construction projects, including in Iraq and Afghanistan.
