Municipal Law

“Municipal corporations” include cities of all classes, towns and local public corporations that exercise some function of government or are created as instrumentalities of the state. Regulated by a complex and interrelated statutory scheme as well as common law principles and a body of case law, they present a unique challenge to attorneys.

Our firm has the knowledge and experience necessary to assist municipal clients in a wide range of legal issues, providing prompt, comprehensive and cost effective representation. Our attorneys have represented municipalities, and their officials and employees, in state and federal trial and appellate courts in claims ranging from inverse condemnation to injuries arising from property defects or police misconduct, employment discrimination and constitutional torts from allegedly invalid ordinances. We have a proven record of providing sound guidance to municipalities and their insurers regarding the many legal questions confronting municipal corporations.

In addition, our employment law attorneys are available to assist in claims under the ADA or for age and gender discrimination or whistle-blowing and our commercial litigation and real estate law/corporate law attorneys can work with municipalities on municipal development matters, including construction, zoning, land use and other local government litigation issues such as Sunshine Law and sovereign immunity suits.
